Bookworm Wednesday

“Isolate a honeybee from her sisters and she will soon die.”
~The Secret Life of Bees

I feel very buzzy today. I’ve buzzed along from blog to blog paying each of my SITStas a visit. I’ve always considered these visits light, fun, breezy trips around the blogosphere. A laugh here, a chuckle there, a weepy eye or two, advice gathered, giveaways entered…Fun, fun. However, perhaps there’s more to these visits than I thought? Modern living can be isolating especially for the stay at home mom with young children. Most past civilizations were far less isolating, a grandma or auntie just a cave or mud hut away. Are we lady bloggers responding to a deep, instinctual need to congregate in numbers? Is there a need to buzz around the bloggy bee hive in search of a little female company? BZZZZ!

“You have to find a mother inside yourself. We all do. Even if we already have a mother, we still have to find this part of ourselves inside.”
~ The Secret Life of Bees

Great advice. Most women need to learn to mother themselves. So, go out there and be good to yourself, my fellow bees! And, then, go ahead, spread the bloggy love to your sisters….comment here, follow there, and click on an ad or two on your way out!

Yes! Its Ecological Systems Theory (perhaps the one thing I remember from grad school). People thrive when they fit in a niche, and have a supportive habitat. Blogging allows us to reach out and support others and reap those benefits ourself.

I've found blogs to be a great way to find people with common interests. Even if you have a great community around you and a great-aunt living with you, you still need like minded individuals to communicate with.

Wow, I guess I never thought about blogging that way before. When I first started, I thought it would be a boring journal about my life. I never knew there was such a community out there. It's fun, isn't it? Kind of like therapy...for free.

Hey there, SITSta! Thanks so much for coming by on Tuesday and leaving Seasonal Best Wishes. Those SITS Gals really know how to throw a Holiday Party, don't they? BTW, I've been nominated for a Pretty Neat Blog Award. If you have a chance, please come by my place and vote. Pretty Please?

You are so right, and it's exactly why we created SITS.

For some bloggers out there, it's the only adult interaction they get some days!!!

Love the quote!

Interesting...and I know I need female interaction...and I don't get much in my real life...so hence...my blogging addiction! And I LOVE you guys..so I don't care to fix it!

This is a good point. I honestly adore the bloghersphere because of the fact that it seems revolutionary - not in the sense of "we've never done this before", but in the sense of "it's been far too long since women have been a community." It feels like reclaiming something integral to our souls.

First, I loved that book!

Second, I started a blog to make money. But, instead it is more of a communicating thing for me. I love getting comments and I love giving comments. I try to visit every blog I follow everyday. I actually itch, if I am not at the computer checking my bloggy friends out. Weird, Huh.
