I decided to just not look. Look away. Avert my eyes. Pretend it was just not happening.
My toddler’s hair was goopy with applesauce, her face smeared with mashed potatoes and her bib was dripping with….Ick. The floor beneath her was littered with flattened peas and …(sigh) oh, can we just not talk about this?
Maybe I could just take the spoon and help her scoop the glob hanging from her chin.
“No!” she spouted.
I had been informed.
She continued on with her feast, eating fistfuls and spoonfuls as if she hadn’t eaten in days.
I decided to just not look. Look away. Avert my eyes. Pretend it was just not happening.
THUD.
Hmmm. I thought sippy cups were spill proof.
“Milk! Milk!” she commanded.
I had received my orders and, faithful servant that I was, crawled under the table to retrieve the beloved item. The squashed peas welcomed me to the party they were having in the carpet.
Squish. Squish.
So much for looking away.
And what is that splattered all over the baseboards? Closer inspection proved it was hardened, evidence of a long ago feast. The mahogany China cabinet had been targeted by the flying goop as well. And, that’s not a splatter under the table, right?
Splat!
Did I mention I was still under the table?
Should applesauce be washed out of your hair right away or are there benefits to letting it sit? Anyone?

Look Michele,Dahling ! I have been wearing it for YEARS and my hair is pure fabulousness! Really! (she says as she looks away...)
Sounds like you need a dog!
Mousse? I think definitely mousse or hair gel! Plus it smells good too.
LOL. I remember that all too well. We might have even had a third child if it weren't for having to clean the damn highchair, and the walls, and the floor and the ceiling... if only she could pitch a softball the way she used to hurl that bowl of cereal!!
What is so funny? Don't you all remember Salon Selectives used to smell like apples? I'm sure the secret ingredient is applesauce....
I am amazed at what I find on our walls, counters, carpets, floors.....
I don't know if there are benefits, but I definitely had baby bananas and apples in my hair for several hours the other day. Mine's too little to feed himself, but it is still atrociously messy. Yech.
It maybe a new trend. To have applesauce in the hair.
Oh, that sounds too familiar! Applesauce is best when applied in layers. Wait a few days, I say.
O M G!! You are too funny! Ok maybe I shouldn't laugh but you write it in such a way that makes me have to! Oh man I can't wait for that!
For some reason, this makes me think of when my daughter used to say, "You're the boss, Applesauce."
Sounds like she is, too!
I feel your pain sista!
There is an added benefit to applesauce. You can use it as a styling agent.
I try not to look at the wall behind my kitchen table :)
Applesauce must have lots of vitamins for your hair :)
Ugh, how I can relate. I do love having a dog for this reason :)
Just this morning I received a nice slap of yogurt to my arm. I just licked it off.
I second Yaya, a dog is good backup! =)
I'm sure I used to buy apple shampoo. Yummy!
Oh my gosh, that's so funny yet sad. I found dried gunk for years!
I thoroughly enjoy applesauce in my hair and sweet potatoes, sometimes pizza sauce too..oh and yogurt, the strawberry banana kind is the best :)...give it a try I know you'll love it..well at least that's what my little boss man tells me :)...I'll loan you my dogs for a day I'm sure they could get your baseboards and underneath the tables clean and spotless in no time! :)
Well, isn't olive oil good for hair? And avocados? I think I read that somewhere -- so why not applesauce? Loved this post. Makes me remember when my now almost-25-year-old daughter was at that stage. She was so incredibly messy when eating that a friend who was babysitting her for a weekend actually set her outside on the porch in her high chair to feed her! And, of course, we've never let her forget this, especially now that she has her own messy eater.
haha, oh I hate it when that happens!
Eew! I always hated the tray to our highchair. Even after I cleaned it (gagging), I still felt like I could see crud on it. And I discovered the same thing on our baseboards, too. Disgusting. It's one of the reasons I got a dog. LOL!
haha...it was a full on assault....lol...and yes...I think applesauce has rejuvinating properties for your hair....
I bet applesauce could double as conditioner. So glad I'm not the only one who dares to pretend something is really not happening ...

You know what I hated the worst? Those teething biscuits. Oh man, those things looked so gross when they chewed and drooled on them. Ick. Now the kids are way past that and the cats vomit so I STILL have messes to clean up. What's up with that?
ICK...you made me glad mine are all grown! Thanks for that!
Applesauce treatment. You may have something there.
