I know imitation is the highest form of flattery, but when my preschooler marched into the room with my Ugg boots up to her thighs and my purse dragging behind her, I knew I was in for a good look in the mirror.
“We can’t have this!” She ordered as she stamped back and forth.
“Clean up, everybody, now!”
A brisk clap and a scowl followed.
“Now! Now! Now!”
Her sharp tone sounded reminiscent of….my mother, maybe? Had to be it.
“No! No! No!”
Hands were now planted on her hips and the scowl deepened. I am assuming she meant business.
“Good girls share!”
Her stare was re-directed to her baby sister. A moment of relief. Wait. No. I was about to step in when I again became the target.
“Now, as for you, young lady,” she said.
A sharp finger pointed in my direction and a pair of little eyebrows raised northward.
Uh-oh. I think I am busted.
I’ll let ya know when the coast is clear.

How cute! But also... unnerving... You have to wonder if that's what she REALLY thinks, eh?
Oh my gosh! Funny! When my daughter's imitate me, I wince. They never imitate me when I am the "good" mommy:)
That is hilarious. I am so scared when my toddler starts to imitate me.
LOL!!
I got caught in the trap last night. Oldest was telling me about this really cool short cut from Mario Kart that he wanted to tell Daddy about. I told him that he should keep it a secret and surprise Daddy when he kicks his bootie the next time they play.
I got a two minute lecture on how winning isn't everything.
Always has to bite you in the rear, doesn't it?
Nevermind how funny the conversation was.....I'm pretty sure it's considered child abuse if you pass down bad fashion! UGG boots? Seriously? I think they should call them UGH boots...it would be more fitting hehehehe
My toddler was pushing her "baby" in the stroller yesterday and stopped. Then she came around to the front, shook her finger at her and said "no, no, NO!" I immediately thought, "ugh, is that how I look?".
Oh, that is just adorable!!! How come we never get imitated being our nice, sweet, generous selves? Geez, children! I'm not always a HAG!
My son has definitley been pointing out some of my less than fantastic traits. It's an eye opener.
Very cute.
Wow what children really think of us at times. It is pretty funny for sure.
Wow. Would this be considered a rite of passage, imitating one's parents?
LOL...I have always said if you REALLY want to know what you sound like...listen to your kids...
better behave...sounds like shes not taking any guff!!
Our household had those kind of moments too! LOL. I catch my daughter's saying things I've said all the time and I still cringe every time I hear them!
chuckle...
You know MY mother had the same effect on my lil one. I mean, it HAD to be HER and not me.
I'm still cool and hip. Right?
LOL! It always scares me when they start saying things that I say. It especially kills me when I hear my mom come out of their mouths. Gosh do I really sound like that.......
That's too funny!
Look on the bright side: she could have put on the show for your pastor!
Who needs a mirror when you've got kids?
I guess she could have sent you to time out.
Cute!
She's got spunk! I love it!
So, so funny! (But I hide when my daughter starts imitating me! lol!)
LOL I love it!
LOL! They are little mirrors. :)
They always make you look like Cruella DeVille don't they? Thanks for sharing!
Too cute! She is ready and in charge! LOL!
I worry sometimes too. My daughter will put on my high heals and grab her purse and walk to the door and say, 'Bye, I go shopping, I go to store, see you later."
I really don't go shopping that much, really!
It's flattery when they're little & a smart butt when they're big.
You described it perfectly as a "mirror." Funny but humbling I'm sure!
"we can't have this" Okay that made me almost pee my pants. I love little kids.
So funny! I hear myself when my daughter opens her mouth too. Her tone of voice especially cracks me up.
Oh how I know.
Miles will say my words exactly, in my tone and I'll say "oh no, do I say THAT???"
mmmm hmmmm, apparently I do!
That is too cute! lol.
I'm scared to have a toddler now! lol
My three year old does this to be on the regular. She's always texting while telling me off too! She's got doing the mommy impression down!
Love it! I have also had an eye opening experience as my older daughter informed me our youngest was "turning into a real handful". Great blog!
LOL you are SO busted!
SO CUTE! You have me rolling~ Your daughter is adorable!
