It’s standing room only. You’ve got to get there early to get seats. And front row seats are an impossible claim. But, the show is worth it.
It’s story time at the library. And, it’s the hottest ticket in town. I mean…in my circles. Equipped with a stack of books, props, puppets and a cartoon voice, this woman can hold the interest of a room full of toddlers. Her enthusiasm is catchy and soon every adult is following along with her songs and finger plays.
Later, you’ll wonder what came over you. It’s been awhile since you shook the ol’ caboose to the beat of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”. Lord knows, you’re usually not one to belt out an off key “Twinkle, Twinkle” quite so loudly in public. And, you remain hopeful that was not your neighbor sitting behind you when you were grooving to the Chicken Dance.
So embarrassing.
Yeah, but you’ll come back. She’ll get you hooked. Suck you in. Add you to the ranks of her star crossed groupies.
And, no….I am not giving up my front row seats.
See you at the library!

lol! That is so cute!
Hey, we're ALWAYS shakin' our ol' boo-tays to kids' songs around here! Nothing wrong with that ;)
Ha ha ha! We love story time at our little library too! (for starters it's just nice to get out and talk to adults!) LOL!
And grab a few DVDs for yourself in the "new release" section. I realize there is no such thing, but since none of us have been to an actual movie in years they are all new releases to us!
Ha Ha! Story club at our library is on Friday mornings... this sums it up perfectly!
Lol, for a minute there I thought you WERE the library lady!
Our library days are over until June 17th. That is when we start up again. Mother Goose is getting things ready for us. Can't wait to go.
Gotta love a good show!
Got a love something or someone that can keep your kids - and you - captivated at the same time.
Winks & Smiles,
Wifey
It's amazing what strange things they'll get you to do at those story time events.
So true, so true.... for us, it was Barnes and Noble and Mr. Mike. He did the most fantastic readings of books both old and new, and had little comedy routines through the song portion that cracked up the diaper set and their grown-ups, too. Kiddo and I were Wed and Fri morning regulars - the earlier show; he did two story times each of those days.
It was nice because you could just pop in whereas the story time at the local library required advance registration. When Kiddo was of story time age, worrying about making/keeping an advance registration was the last thing I needed to add to my sleep-deprived self's list! :)
Maybe we can give lessons to our librarians?
And I say - shake the booty every chance you get.
What's wrong with the chicken dance? It's a fan favorite around here!
LOL! So true!
One time, in an effort to cheer up crabby co-workers and lighten the atmosphere at work, I (loudly) did Barney The Dinosaur's "Sun, Sun, Mr Golden Sun" song AND dance. I was feeling quite smug having nailed all the words and hand gestures (getting the feet going in rhythm was tough too-those toddlers make it look so easy) only to turn around and see my mortified boss standing by two smirking customers. I was never asked to sing and dance again.....I still have my job though...so far....
LOL--I LOVE it! On the last day of school I took my girls to the library to sign up for their reading program... they've committed to reading X number of books, and will get a prize if they get it done. Plus, the library has all these fun activities for them all summer long--and they're FREE! You can't beat the library!!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and especially for the wonderful comments!
that sounds fun! our story time isn't nearly as engaging!
That lady is totally my hero!
We love the library! We go at least once a week and have been going since Kaish was a baby : ).
So true!! Thanks for visiting my blog on my SITS day this week!!
