So, they call 'em the dog days of summer? The way I see it, these lazy summery days are more like cat days.
Dozing, belly up, in the sun. Stretching and yawning the day away. Meditative. Relaxed. The Devil may care. Purrrr.
Yep. The cat days of summer.
A dog?
Well, a dog is for September. Up and at ‘em. Ears perked and tail a waggin’. Eager to greet the day. Attentive and enthusiastic.
The dog days of Autumn.
There ya go. Just a little more accurate, I say.
Woof.
You’re welcome.

Oh man I would kill for one of those "relaxed" days you described, i havent had one of those since before the kids were born.
I would agree your assessment!
I need a cat day! :) Have a great weekend!
You're right. I think you should write to the Analogy Board and have that term changed.
The Babies are thrilled to know the distinction.
I agree - very funny. I have never thought of it that way.
i think my dogs are cats then...as they're lounged on the floor, passed out, where they've been ALL day!
Too cute. A cat day is a great description.
I could NOT agree with you more...since moving out into the country and acquiring cats...their life is about 23 hours of belly up BASKING and LAZING! There are times I am SO JEALOUS of their lazy lives!!!!
I so feel ya....I'd rather be laying on a chair taking a snooze....but maybe without any licking of oneself....
I wish there were cat days! Over here it's all barking and burying bones and chewing sofas and general chaos-causing.
It's upper 80's here, with high humidity, and the idea of wearing all-over fur, dog OR cat, is NOT appealing.
But the lazing around thing?
Oh, yeah.
Since my summer days are full of earwigs, bring on the dog days of autumn!
I totally agree with you!! Then again...I am always lazy summer or not:)
I want a dog day! a relaxed day! that sounds like heaven!
I'm with Amanda. I have this awesome outdoor lounge chair that hasn't seen any "lounging" for about 6 years! I'd love a "cat" day!!
I would have to agree with this post... I can't wait until the 1st of July so that I can enjoy the cat days of summer too! Have a great summer!!
I am so with you on that one....I love it! The cats days of summer!!
Now that you mention it . . . I think you could be right! The dog days of summer make me think of tongues lolling out of mouths - not such a pretty picture.
I think you have something here!
