It started with an innocent splash of Purell after grocery shopping. Some quick disinfecting of the shopping cart handle. And a little extra hand washing at home.
Which quickly graduated to…
Obsessive purchasing of disinfectants.
Frantic stocking up on a month’s worth of chicken soup and Children’s Tylenol.
Trolling Facebook for clues as to who to avoid.
And, though I am not proud to admit…..breath holding in crowded areas.
Yes, I have been sucked into this feverish frenzy, the black hole of flu panic. Determined to dodge the flu bullet, I have built a virtual flu fortress. I am armed with Lysol and equipped with Echinacea. I possess an arsenal of antioxidants, vitamins, herbal remedies and citrus beverages.
Prepared and ready to do battle, I am a flu bug warrior. Hear me roar.
And, step aside as I bubble wrap my blog, will ya?

i didnt let my kids go to a birthday party at chuck e cheese. it was my niece's bday. i made excuses for the kids but went myself and i took portable lysol with me. not only did i openly lysol my table but i lysoled myself as i left and a stranger asked me to do her too.
my kids are sick of their daily yogurt too. keeping the immune systems up. we've had 4 kids in each school with swine flu... only out 3 days tho? is that possible.
I love to pop bubblewrap. You have been warned.
If I come bubblewrapped...can I stay with you until it's over?
:)
It really is a horrible, horrible thing.
I was wondering how you happened to find me? Not that I mind, I am glad, but was wondering if you just clicked on my 'follower' face? xx♥
I am laughing!! We had swine over here already. I keep thinking if I get the flu, it might just give me a chance to sleep!!
It's hard not to get caught up in this whole thing.
I'm normally pretty mellow about germs and I stood in line for 3 hours to get vaccines.
That is hilarious! I'm not caught up in the flu hysteria, just business as usual. We can't get the shot here for a week or two anyway so no point stressing out over it. Good luck keeping those germs away!
I think every mother is going through this. You don't want to give into the media scare....but at the same time don't want your child seriously ill from the flu. Fun times! HA!!
This is too funny... I hope everyone stays well.
LOL I've done the FB trolling. Great post! Love your honesty. :D
Oh no that's the truth. I try not to be blatantly obvious that I'm scooting my kids around certain people and children and not letting them come into direct contact with the elderly at Walmart. (They loooove to touch hands and faces and I've worked in a nursing home. Let's just say the older some get, the less time they spend in the tub or at the sink!) Hang in there...cough! Uhm...I mean...nothing. Yeah. Nothing. ;o)
My best, Lynn
I totally hear you, I sometimes get a bit fanatical then I remember that I spend my day coming in contact with at least 100 teenagers and start to think that it might be a waste of my time to try and keep myself sanitized!
I can't even make fun of you. I think you're just downright smart!
we've all gotten the flu and 4 of the 7 us got swine on top of that.... but and we survived so far. I have a mask on gloves while i type this comment so you don't have to worry about getting germies from me. ;o)
WHOA girl! I think you have joined millions who have done the same! The disinfectant and homeopathic remedy companies thank us for our frenzy of purchasing!
While most people are carefully watching their pennies the hand sanitizer companies are going RICH!!!!!
ACK! I am sick of sick!
I hear you loud and clear. I am sure our neighborhood can smell the vapor fumes escaping from our house. We have been battling and having a lullaby coughing session since the night before Halloween. We do what we have to as parents!
It's good to be in control.
Scratch that.
It's good to be prepared.
Yep! Totally agree and have done the same thing. We have 7 children, there is a LOT of children's Tylenol and Motrin in my cupboard!
And when the grocery store had chicken soup for 48 cents a can? I bought 40 cans- not even kidding.
Thanks for reminding me to stock up on Tylenol and chicken soup. Our kids have gotten the H1N1 vacc. but it never hurts to be prepared.
I've never bothered much with swabbing down my grocery cart, but yesterday I did. The whole dadgum cart while the lady behind me patiently waited to get a cart for herself. I also recently started a ritual to Purell the kids after we've been out in public! It's so funny to use Purell as a verb! LOL
I must admit...my baby girl is having her first birthday party next Sunday-family and close friends only-and I am stocking up on the lysol. And not leaving out the extra toys that I usually do. I hate being paranoid. What is up with the Tamiflu resistant strain?
