Top of the List

I am a list maker.

I make weekly To-Do lists, grocery lists, laundry lists and errand lists. There’s also birthday lists, doctor lists, and grooming lists. Of course, let’s not forget the Honey- Do list.

It’s my attempt to keep on top of things.

It makes me feel in control, at the mommy wheel and commander-in-chief-ish.

To say the least.

If there’s a lost errand, rambling about loosely, undone, unaccounted for and undocumented, I hurriedly shoo it in the direction of said lists.

“Now, now, haircut, you’re not going to get the best of me this season. Go find your place at the top of the list.”

“Ah, dental cleaning….go stand in line with the vaccinations. And, not such a sour face, please. I promise I won’t put you off much longer.”

“And, where do you think you’re sneaking off to, Ms. Mammogram? Hmmmm? OK, Ok, you can stand at the end of the line, but no more hiding out with Mr. Pap.”

My list making does consume quite a bit of my time. In fact, I spend much of my day overseeing these lists.

“I know, I know, Oil Change. Your point is duly noted. Pops will receive a memo with his coffee.”

“And, sorry, Mildew in the Shower. We’ll have to take you off any and all lists until further notice. Check back when the kids are enrolled in school.”

“Pedicure, pedicure. I understand you’ve been shuffled and reshuffled. But, there’s no getting around it. End of the line with you!”

“I know, I know Mr. Date Night. You’ve been parked last in line far too long. How about I upgrade you to a Quickie and we call it even?”

What with the managing of all these personalities, it’s a wonder anything gets done around here.

Good thing I have lists.

I'm a list maker too. Sometimes I put things like "pick up the child" and "make dinner" just so I have the feeling of accomplishment when I check it off.

So, I was surprised to read that it's MR Pap. I always assumed it was MS Pap. You learn something new every day.

I LOVE lists! I get so much satisfaction from crossing things off. I even break things down into parts so I can do more crossing off! LOL

A woman after my own heart - scheduling sex. Synchronise watches....you've got exactly 7 minutes.

I'm a list maker. It makes me happy. Though I've taken more to mental lists lately as I have less to list (which is a good thing)!

Oh this is too funny!
I give up on lists and then start them again all the time. I should just make a perma-list that ALWAY has laundry, cleaning, and bills on it.

Love the lists! How did you know I have mildew in the shower? My husband's to-do list this week is 1. fix kitchen cabinets 2. put away paint sprayer so I don't keep knocking it over in the sink when I rinse dishes 3. clean the mildew in the bathroom. :D I could go on but I know with him I am going to get lucky with getting one of those done and even then I gotta sweeten the deal.

HAhaha! That is so funny. If my list could talk, I think I would shred it. But then I wouldn't know what to do and nothing would get done.
You crack me up!!

I make list too... and misplace them. And, when I find them a month later, I still need to get all of those things done. Grr...

This was great! I am an insane list maker...post it note style all over the desk in terrible handwriting that I can't read so nothing ever gets done.

Mine is more of a mental list and then I forget the list and I have to start a new list. Again. I admire your list skills.

How would we survive without lists?

I am a planner but not do follow them. I love your post. I am glad I am feeling the smile again, thank you.

I don't think I've ever made a list in my life. My wife makes lists of her lists.

And the whole post, of course. Hilarity, as usual!
