“So, how long is a minute exactly?” My five year old was eyeing me over her cereal.
I was deep into blogging, throwing her my usual stalling tactic. “In a minute. Darling!”
She continued her questioning. “Is a minute little or big?”
Hmmmmm?
Depends, doesn’t it?
Right now, it was medium-ish.
Later, while I’m on the phone, I am most certain it could be quite long-ish. And, when my nose is deep in a book, it might be a trifle longer even.
Mostly, of course, I like to think minutes are rather short in this house.
But, when I tried to remember when I last had a rendezvous with a short minute, I was at a loss…
Maybe minutes of the miniature kind were no more.
Defunct. Extinct. Banned, even.
The shame.
Well, that settles it.
No more minutes of any variety allowed in this house.
“In a second, darling!”
Might be hard to follow through. But I’m always up for a challenge.
Besides, a certain person of the miniature variety certainly deserves it.

I am feeling totally convicted over here! I do that all the time. Our poor kids... no wonder mine can't tell time... sometimes my minute turns into 15... or 30... :0)

How long is a second? :-)
Love this post!
It is their fault. Those little miniature creatures make time fly by so fast that everything is out of whack.
I think I might have to try that in a second tactic over here too! The minute is getting old.
That is a toughie! Time goes by in a weird way when we are on these computers.
They do deserve it don't they? I have been reminded of the frustration lately when I ask Prayse to do something or come here, or get shoes on, etc... and I get back, "In a MINUTE Mama!"
Oy vey, what have I created?
Depends whether you're in New York or Hawaii...
Yes, they deserve it. You also deserve time to yourself. Finding the balance is the challenge.
Love the Minute play by play.. Happy Halloween.. Thanks for the wish yesterday for my little one..
Love this! I'll have to think of something good when my little one starts asking me these questions... so many questions!!
PS: You won some business cards on my blog! I'm about to email you if I can find your email! if not, email me your email addy: babymakingmachine at gmail! :)
Just spent a weekend with a 3-year-old and a 2-year-old. I'm just amazed she'll take "just an anything" for an answer!
You know, that's a very good question...
Oh I know the feeling. I'm always saying that and always telling my daughter to just be patient :)
LOL! I think we are all use that saying- In a minute alittle too much!
