My one year old likes to bust a move. We first noticed it in the car as we were listening to some tunes. She bobbed her head and shook her leaky sippy cup like a tambourine.
“Hmmm..This one has a little rhythm,” says hubby.
It’s true. She regularly gets jiggy with commercial jingles, sitcom theme songs, and certain cell phone ring tones. She gets her groove on when a particular button gets pushed on her Leapfrog Fire truck scoot toy. And she really gets that party started in her toddler Kindermusik class.
She is discerning with her musical taste, however. She scoffs at the 80’s, but play a little Disco Inferno, and this toddler cuts up the rug. And, we’re not talking about just some light head nodding and toe tapping here. This child works it. Her hips are shaking, arms swinging and there’s an occasional full body wave. She even attempted some mosh pit moves with her older sister when hubby played an old Nirvana album the other day.
Oh, yes, this child can sure shake her thang. She takes her art seriously, though. No jumpy, giggly, baby bouncing here. Her eyes closed, lip bit and with her caboose a rockin’, this gal brings the house down. Hubby and I attempt to keep up with our own wiggly jiggly’s but she always seems to leave us in the dance floor dust, leaky diaper and all.
All aboard the Soul train! Chug-a-chug-a-chug! Choo! Choo!

LOL! Both of my girls have always liked music. I think if the oldest could have her ear buds permenantly cemented into her ears she would.
Oh how I LOVE dancing babies!!
You should see my 2-year-old when Hubs is playing Guitar Hero. He's current favorite - Billy Idol's "Rock the Cradle of Love."
Awesome!!
I love that your little one totally digs Disco. A girl after my own heart.
Love it!!!
She dances like her daddy....no rhythm with lots of fun....alright mommy dances like that too :)
Awww!!! Gotta love when kiddos can 'dance as if no one is watching'....wonder what age that is when it shifts over to being embarrassed....
Mine all had a certain song they liked. My littlest one loved the "We dit it" From Dora and would do a twist and shout dance. I have it one my phone but I don't know how to put that on my computer from the phone:(
Leaky sippy cups-HA! I have used sippy cups for 8 years and they all leaked like the levees of New Orleans!!
That is fabulous! It is so cool when little kids feel the music. Yours does in a big way. It was a year ago New Years Eve that our baby Ella at almost 1 started dancing to the Pussycat Dolls "Don't ya." She did this little butt drop bending at the knees to the beat of the music. One of those priceless moments.
LOL ya gotta love a girl who can dance even if she has gunk in her trunk...or diaper!
I love the descriptions! Cracking me up.
Aysha doesn't like my 80's music either :(
:) oh yeah kids can groove!
My 17 month old loves to boogie too but is usually shaking her booty from side to side or swinging her arms from side to side. At least she's getting in shape while doing it. Maybe I should join her.
Dropping by from SITS.
This is so great, wonderful visual...I can still see your dancing baby!
Sweet post.
Hello from a fellow SITSta!
LOL.too cute. Once it starts, it doesn't stop. I just caught my 7-year-old dancing on her bed and swinging her hair to the Jonas Brothers. The best part was watching her check herself out in the mirror! Kids.
That reminds me so much of my daughter! She is still like that. But she's a little self conscious, so if you want to see it, you can't let her know you're watching. Too cute!
Our daughter has rhythm and we have no idea where she got it from. Neither of us, that is for sure. The only thing is, she fancies herself a singer and I don't even think a boat load of singing lessons could help her out in that area. Whenever she sings we tell her, "Dance, baby! Dance!"
That reminds me of a joke . . .
