My daughter loves dinosaurs. She’s nuts about them, really. The scalier, the better. And, boy, does she keep them busy. Her dinosaur collection has a full social calendar.
She arranges them for high tea.
“One lump, or two?”
She organizes dinosaur fashion shows.
“Fancy. Oh, so fancy!”
She plans family dinosaur picnics.
“Care for a cookie?”
She conducts dinosaur dance recitals.
“One, two, three…kick”
She mingles them for a nightly social hour.
“How do you do?” “Well, how do you do?”
And, she just about came unglued when her preschool began a dinosaur unit. Happy as a clam, she stuffed her backpack with her dinosaur collection, fashion accessories and all.
You can imagine my surprise when, after school, she expressed her displeasure.
“Mommy, they don’t play with dinosaurs the right way at school!”
“What do you mean?”
She then began to express her dismay with the dinosaur play she witnessed using such words as “kill”, “dead” and “roar!” She was bewildered with the boys at school as they carried on dinosaur wars and battles. My daughter claimed she tried to chime in offering up a T-Rex and a tiara, but apparently her ideas were immediately rejected.
“What’s wrong with them?” She was exasperated.
I started to explain the male, reptilian brain, but thought better of it.
“Maybe the rhinestone, dino earrings will win them over?” I suggested.
Move over, fellas. There’s room for a Princess Paleontologist in the sandbox, too.
ROOOAAAR!
Ahem, I mean, pardon me, excuse and I bid you adieu.
Today, I am partipating in Aloha Fridays. Go over there and take a peek! Just post a question (any question) and link up over there. Here's my question. Do you find out the sex or keep it as a surprise?

My oldest daughter went through a dinosaur stage, too, at age 3 or 4.
She dressed hers up in Barbie clothes. It stuck, too; she's 9 now and still wants to be a paleontologist!
Cute! My DD almost 3 is in the having conversations with everything phase....even the olive oil bottle.
Can your girl & dinosaur come over and play with my girl & dinoRoar?
:)
I totally have one of those boys that makes his dinosaurs roar, hunt and kill. The collection should really be in museums with how big it is. I imagine with little sister now getting her hands on things, our dinosaurs will soon have tiaras and things as well.
That is so cute. I like to see how children play with things. I think she has it down. We do not need all of that roaring and fighting. Just a nice kick step would be fine.
Lol! The visions of a kick stepping, tiara laden Dino, have put a smile on my dial. :D
Thanks.x
That is so cute! Maybe she'll start making the other kids aware of the disnosaurs' soft sides! :)
My son is into dinosaurs right now but only b/c that's what they're learning in preschool!
That's adorable! She'll teach those boys a thing or two!
Aww! How cute! The boys need to take her advice, she knows how to have a good time obviously!
Oh that is hilarious. What a unique combination!
I love it! My little guy loves dinos, I hear ROAR all day :)
too funny, makes me smile.

Sorry to say I own one of those males that like to make their dinos "kill, roar and die", but the next minute they will be fathering their baby doll. =)
Sooooo stinkin cute! My boy tells everything he loves them..including his dinosaurs..lol.. :) He's 2 so he only roars at tigers, lions and bears (oh my!) right now.. :)
Funny! I though my daughter was the only little girl in love with dinos(she's 3)! Hmmmm.....maybe there's a new toy invention in all of this!
Aww, that's adorable! i wonder if all kids go through a dino phase? My brother and I did too! My fav was the stegosauras.
"I am woman! Hear me Roar!"
Oh yes, I've got a dinofreak daughter too. Started around the age of 3 and persists to today at the ripe old age of "5 and THREE QUARTERS" as she is. The thing that threw me (a former child dinofreak myself) was how many dinos have new names. What happened to plain, old Brontosaurus? *sniff sniff*
Her dinos, by the way (and she has a vast collection - I've stepped barefoot upon many a dino in the middle of the night. Dang, those ankylosauruses are especially painful!) now mingle happily with her Disney princesses (and other character sets like Aladdin and Jungle Book), her safari animals, undersea creatures and My Little Ponies. Oh, and of course the Barbies, too...........
So the boys are just gonna have to get used to Dino Games, Chick Style, I think! :D
Well, that's not fair. Tell those boys they better just back off with their roaring, killer dinos! They just don't understand do they?
That's adorable. I wonder if it hurts her being that cute? :)
Thanks for the compliment! And yes I did add your button..I like following your blog! Cute story!!!
That is so cute!! I love kids, they are the best!
I love your stories. I hope the princess dino's can teach those dumb boy dino's some class!
Who cares if the dinos in your family are a little girly? I'm just so jealous that you HAVE dinosaurs!! I swear, if I see another princess or Barbie in our house, I am going to vomit pink!
I've noticed this, too. Even though Rosebud likes playing with cars, she prefers them to have conversations with each other, as opposed to smashing them into one another, to see what degree of carnage can be wrought.
Socialization or innate difference? The world may never know.
"I started to explain the male, reptilian brain, but thought better of it."
Oh, That is too funny, i am sure she will figure it out soon enough!!
Also, sorry I haven't been commenting too much but I have been reading!! I so enjoy your writings.
I'm glad she's showing the preschool class a new way of playing with dinosaurs. How cute! Has she read the Sandra Boynton book Oh, my, Oh, Dinosaurs? I bet she'd love it.
So cute! I like the way she plays with Dinosaurs.
I'm currently learning all the "right" names for dinos from my son.
He is definitely going to grow up to use words like roar and kill. I hope he mets a lovely girl to show him the softer side of dino life.
My daughter also dresses up dinos, much to her brothers' dismay.
Don't we all go through dinosaur stages? I have to say, I do love me some dinosaur!
SHe will learn the mind of a boy soon enough. No need to explain it yet. lol
thats so cute. Now who's to say dinosaurs weren't into rhinestones and tea parties? I mean what do scientists know anyways?
Hahaha! That is so cute!
Love it! My girls played with dino's and dolls. :)
My daughters LOVE playing with their plastic dinosaurs - it's their favorite toy! Good for your daughter! There's always more room in the sandbox for girls and dinosaurs!

There you go! Love , Natalie.x
Dino Princess! I love it. The T-rex probably looks beautiful in a tiara!
LOL...that post had me chuckling...and I agree...there is nothing prettier than a pink scaley giant lizard in a tiara! Even Godzilla must have had a sweet missy lizard waiting at home!
That is so fabulous that she thinks like that! You've go to be proud of that. Makes me smile just thinking of her dino tea parties. :)
I LOVE IT! That girl has it going on! She could market some designer dino duds and make millions!!! My daughter loves dinosaurs too!
That is so funny! My daughter also had a dino loving stage. But she was in the kill/roar staged. Now she has graduated to loving animals.
Hey, it is me again. I have an award on my blog for you. Check it out when you have time:)
Cute post about the dinosaurs!
You were the commenter above me at SITS today so I just thought I'd stop in and say "hi".
And, I noticed you've only been blogging for about 7 months. How did you grow your readership so quickly? Any suggestions for a fellow blogger?
Thanks!
My sister makes & sells the cutest stuffed dinos! Her kids adore them as well & have made up all kinds of games for them.
So w/ that question, I'm guessing that you are pregnant? If so Congrats! And no, we didn't ever find out the sex although we could have since we had to have genetic scans that are so powerful they could see all of the heart's workings.
I found out for both. I couldn't wait!
My toddler grandson loves Dinosaurs!
I don't know if I can imagine a more delightful romp than with dinosaurs having high tea. Absolutely adorable conversations!
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog.
Girl power!
I gave you an award on my blog!
My 4 year old it totally into dinosaurs. we actually had to have a "talk" with him about acting like a dino in school :O) you should see when he is a t-rex, he has the hardest time opening the door with 3 fingers! love your blog!
