The Doctor is In

I have often said that writing is cathartic. It helps me process things, vent, and sort through my mental clutter.

So, why was it surprising to me when, one morning, my medium point pen cleared his throat and began asking me some probing questions?

Pen: So, tell me about your childhood…

Pen: And, what were you thinking when you published that post?

Pen: How did that comment make you feel?

I was reluctant to answer at first, of course. I tend to lean towards glossing over the issues and stuffing matters deep into the subconscious. But, the stolen glances to his wristwatch reminded me that my pen was on the clock. And, I had a feeling that I wasn’t receiving any courtesy discounts.

I was slow to start. But, one confession led to another…It wasn’t long before I began to spill the beans. I really let my hair down, revealing all my dark secrets and fears, exposing all the skeletons. I found it rather enjoyable to purge my soul to an inanimate object.

We were just starting to delve into my teen years when I heard that familiar throat clearing…

Apparently, my time was up and we weren’t scheduling for next week. I was actually referred out. To a specialist. It seems I challenged my pen beyond his capabilities.

But, I do have an appointment with a purple Sharpie next week.

Sounds promising, ya think?

Sounds pretty normal to me! Some of us need a whole keyboard to address our issues... ;)

I find a purple Sharpie to be so much more helpful than an ol' ordinary pen. Unless it has one of those cushy grips on it, then I am a goner.

I love writing, definitely therapeutic. But for diving into my past, I see a therapist for that stuff!

Aaaaahhh, I hear the Purple Sharpie's are hard to get into and tough in the therapy department...I suggest you stick with your Bic!

Those pens...was it a BIC? Those are always fresh and uppity. But when you put them to paper, they never can really cut the mustard if you ask me. Now Sharpies are great to party with. They are a bit on the more fragrant French side but they still are solid people. Hope you have a good week coming up.

My best, Lynn

You're in BIG trouble if you've been referred to the infamous Purple Sharpie. Good luck with that one! LOL

At least the pen will keep your secrets or you can put the top on it!

lol...BEWARE the purple sharpie...I hear they mess around with that hypno-therapy. I'm not sure you're ready to reveal all your darkest secrets just yet! You always make me laugh every time I visit here. You have such a knack!

You have to be the wittiest writer I know! Well, pretend to know anyway.

Hehe I kind of feel the same. As I write I find that each issue is somehow chained to another. Before you know it Ive bounced through so many different issues just by addressing one..

I've heard that purple sharpie is developing some fascinating new treatments and therapies. But I think the words water and boarding were used in his last presentation. *shudder*

I know those pens. But I will need to create another blog for that, hide it deep within the internet, wall it off with storm troopers or immortal dragon slayers. Where it can never ever be identified by anyone who knows me or ever will.

Then, maybe that Sharpie and I can get down to business. But right now those words pulse in the ether in invisible ink -- acidic, burning fires of hell invisible. But still.

Sending kind thoughts your way. I understand.
