Toddler Hair Salon

I should have known what I was getting into. Really. What did I expect?

But, when my preschooler came at me with that hair brush and my toddler joined in with the glittery hair clips, my heart went a flutter. I gave in. Caved. Surrendered.

I figured, as long as no scissors were involved…what the heck?

“Just you wait! Princess hair for you,” my preschooler piped.

“Clips! Clips!...Mine!!” my toddler told me.

I imagined this as a milestone. All mothers of girls must participate in this ritual, right? Our hair twisted and snarled around assorted barrettes…tufts of hair missing from our overzealous stylist…. Eyes tearing from the pain…. The mist of a mysterious aerosol can in the air.

Hubby found me later in the kitchen happily cooking with my glittery Princess-Medusa-Pippi Longstocking hair do. He stoically complimented me on the new elegant look. The fella’s gotten used to living with a gaggle of gals, after all….

But, his mood shifted when he saw the cat.

“Ah….Um…M-M-Mr.Kitty??”

Author’s note…Don’t worry. No kitties were harmed during this style session. Adorned, maybe. Primped, definitely. Improved, absolutely. Harmed, never!

Oh the fun, girly things you do when you have girls! I'm missing out on all that stuff. I wonder if my sons would mind if I tried a few sparkly things out on them...? or there's the dog...

Hi Michele! One time, my little girls rolled my very long hair up in a roll brush to my ears. There it stayed, no amount of conditioner or hairdressers, could remove it. I went from bra lenth hair, to boys hair.
BE CAREFUL!!!!!

I am glad no mama's or kitty's were injured in your session. :D

Btw, I went back for more, I secretly love it.

No pictures? I want pictures. That would add to the laughter being had over here. This is one thing I don't get to participate in....I have ALL boys!

Yep. When you have girls, you must surrender your scalp to the beauty shop trials and tribulations.

I am with the others....where are the pics??

I secretly look forward to this day. My 3 year year old has hair down to the middle of her back and WILL NOT allow me to put any sort of hair pretties in it. It's heartbreaking. As for me, I am big time overdo for a trip to salon so anything would be an improvement!

Ho, ho! I used to do the cat's hair as my Mom was a beautician. The cat was never happy.

I think that is a whole lot better than finding chunks of hair laying around the kitchen and then finding your two kids hiding in the closet snipping at their own hair furiously. Like gobs. Yeah there were some bald spots.

If they only would have asked they could have assaulted me with glitter and clips and stuff. If only...

chuckling.

I so wish my 2 year old Tomboy Girly girl would let me touch her hair.

She loves purses but will pull/twist/yank anything that makes her hair look like we brush it.

:sigh:

I had loooooong hair when I was a kid. As a result, whenever we were stood in line at school (a frequent activity in those days), there was always someone with a soft touch to quietly braid my hair whilst we stood. It was one of the most soothing feelings i can recall as a child.

As a result, I welcome the mini-hairdressers, even when they pull. All for a chance to have that soft braiding feeling again.

I love being all dramatic when my hair is done. I say the things they tell me every morning. "ouch your pulling my hair". "Do I have to have my hair brushed today" "Your killing me"
