I’ve come to the conclusion that blogging is a winter sport. It’s right up there with snowshoeing and tobogganing.
I’ve noticed recently during my travels through the blogosphere, many of my fellow bloggees…ah…bloggos……ah….never mind…are a bit distracted. It seems most are camping, gardening, sunbathing and the like.
I decided to consult a local social scientist to see if the empirical evidence I have gathered is indeed substantiated.
Mammatalk: So, Doctor. Do bloggers blog in June?
Doctor Blogger: This is dependent on the location of the bloggee. The closer to the Poles the bloggee resides, the longer the Blogging season. The winters in the Polar Regions tend to be longer. As such, Polar dwelling Homo Sapiens tend to habituate indoors longer seeking intellectual stimulation in front of electronic devices.
Mammatalk: Ummm-Hmmm…
Doctor Blogger: Conversely, the closer a Homo Sapien resides to the equator, the more likely blogging behavior will decrease in June. Subsequently, an increase will be noted in outdoor behaviors …. bird watching for example.
Mammatalk: Ah…yeah?
Doctor Blogger: However, we do have a few anomalies. For example… the bloggee who resides in an area with mild year round weather. To these bloggees, a sunny day is merely a sunny day. Not a distraction.
Mammatalk: Yo, Doc. Pass the sunscreen?
Doctor Blogger: My point exactly.

Throwing you a comment bone on my way out the door for a walk with the fam.
Is that what you mean? :-)
Yes, I'm feeling the blahs with blogging lately.
lol. I was just thinking the same thing. I was guilty of this last year, but I'm not trying to forget my blog this year. Cross my fingers cause life just keeps sticking it's nonvirtual nose in. ;)
It's not really dead in the Blogosphere -- just slowed down to a pace consistent with taking a nap in a hammock on a summer afternoon. Hmm. Maybe I'll just go do that....
I agree. I have been busy but when I do have time to check in....there isnt that much to check in on.
I am in winter, but finding the challenges of having a large family, are increasingly eating up my life. :(
LOL. You explain this so well!
I still avoid the sunlight like a true computer geek. Thank goodness I'm black already, because I would be the palest white person you've ever come across. I'm home blogging these days because I love - or maybe it's because we are broke and cancelled our family vacation this summer. Hmm....
My best, Lynn
I'm with Lynn. I'm broke, brokey McBroke so at least blogging is cheap fun. Plus it's a hop skip and jump from the potty and the fridge!
There does to seem to be a lot less bloggy activity lately.
Well, at least everyone is out having fun.
It is raining here. That is why I'm reading blogs. Great post.
I love this post! Very creative. I definitley have been drained of any decent blogging ideas lately.
Stoping over from SITS
Totally agree with Doctor Blogger - the kiddos also can't sit still inside! We've gotta enjoy the sun while it lasts!
Distracted! YES! Hard to focus on a post when the sun beckons!
This is funny - I've actually blogged more lately than I have in months. Carefree summer = more time to blog...and more things to blog about. And summer light = better photography! I'm having a BALL!
So that is my problem:) I have seem to have lost my bloggy groove. Can that doctor give me something for it:)
I live where the weather is reasonably nice year round. I do hate visiting blogs that have nothing new to say. I try to update weekly.
I'm definitely more of a cold-weather blogger.
But then again, I find blogging really comes into its own when I am trying to AVOID something else. It's a great procrastination tool ;o)
Sometimes I prefer it a little slower around here, it means I have HALF a chance of catching up with everyone!
In a matter of time we'll all be bored and hot and cranky and back. :)
I'm so glad you consulted someone about this, I was beginning to think I was the only one who had been abandoned for the sun :)
Very true observation! Summer is for getting out and enjoying the weather! I'm definately one of those close to the equater bloggers. An un-fair weathered blogger, if you will.
Dropping by from SITS site, Blogging for me just keeps going,going...lol
Have a wonderful evening!
Now that school is out and I'm home, I'll probably kick into blog mode! (I hope.)
Hey saw you on SITS and thought I'd say hi!! I just started blogging not to long ago, so for right now the addiction is strong!
Oh...you must be on to something!
Oh, the sun sings his siren song and I am snagged. Again and again.
haha, I loved this! This is my first summer blogging and I was beginning to think I just sucked :) Glad to know it's just the summer thats keeping people from visiting me.
