Toddler Versace

It happened. It is premature. I had thought it would occur much later.

But, here we are dealing with it now.

Sigh.

My toddler is overly concerned with her wardrobe. She has a fierce opinion about her outfits. She’s a bit of a fashion diva, really. A clothes horse. A fashion queen. And she’s quite vocal. She throws a fit if her taste isn’t adhered to. Her moods are like a roller coaster. And, she changes her mind continually.

I haven’t been able to follow her fashion sense, however. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to her taste. It could be argued that her taste is all in her mouth, frankly. I mean, does a purple Princess boa really go with an orange Nemo swim suit?

She dresses to the nines in the morning, donning her red, velvet, Christmas dress. All set. Complete with a crooked misplaced hair bow. Ready to hit the sandbox. And, by mid-morning, she’s back in her footed PJ’s, blanket trailing behind.

“Her fashion sense seems to be suffering from a mood disorder,” I whispered to hubby one evening.

“I think it’s a case of premature teenage-itis,” chimed Auntie.

“That’s my gal,” says Daddy.

“I hear Gloria Vanderbilt herself had an opinion about her rompers while still in diapers,” proudly voiced Grandma.

“The kid’s a diva in training. A regular pint sized super star,” noted Grandpa.

Whatever it is, who knows? But, I think it may be catching…..Anyone seen my purple polka dotted jumpsuit or must I storm off in a huff?

Ah, yes. My 2 1/2 year old is quite similar, only we're at the other end of the spectrum. We must put our T-shirt on over our pajama top, and we walk around in our diaper instead of in pants or short! What fun!

I'm not a parent, but I thought the fashion conscientiousness didn't start till the age of 10. Now I know better!

Mine gets a cute little grin on her face when she has a dress on. Then she flashes her goodies at everyone. *sigh* She's three. Don't you just love this age?

I love it.

My son is easily impressed by clothing with trains or Elmo. Beyond that he doesn't care at all.

My oldest daughter at age 2 was such a primadonna about her clothes that it threw me into hysterics, too.

Mmmm, so glad those days are over. Now, it's all about the hair. She won't be seen (even by us family members) until it's smoothed and brushed. Funny gal...where does she get this from? ;)

HAHAHA!! How adorable! Make sure to take lots of pictures of her crazy outfits. Those pictures are great ones to have handy to show her Prom date. :)

We are going through the "I only wear dresses phase". It hasn't been long we were in the Red Pettiskirt and black patent leather shoe phase. Try explaining to a then 2 year old that shirts are not optional, they are a requirement.

Ha! My toddler is fond of her footie jammies, puddle boots, and a side order of cowbody hat. I think she is a better dresser than me....:)

I always love reading your stuff, because our girls our close in age...as of lately mine prefers anything but they must go with her yellow boots.

I think yours might actually turn her nose up?

Or ask to borrow them. :)

This is great. P just turned 2 last week and we've been dealing with "I like DIS one Mama!" for awhile now. So girlfriend sometimes goes to school in her pajama shirt (is has Elmo on it ya know...)

There are more important things to battle out later I figure.

Clothes sure can spark a fit in a child. Even my boys had some definite preferences!

Just droppin' by from SITS! You baby sounds like my little sister was/is. I guess being the youngest of nine and having three much older sisters kind of brought out the diva! :) It's adorable!
Happy Thursday!

That was Tuesday...so I'm just wondering if you found your jumpsuit yet. If not, I still have my Holly Hobbie zip-up from junior high. I'd like to offer that up.

We're having the opposite problem. All my toddler yells is "I want to be NAKED!!"

This post reminds me of the Fancy Nancy books. Have you read them? They are so cute!

Your little one sounds like she has a great sense of fashion. Purple and orange sounds divine! I remember when I was a little girl, I used to take my mother's scarves and wrap them around me as I created the newest fashions. Having two boys the closest I get to fashion experimentation is a batman mask:)

Happy Saturday to you! I am slowly making my way around to all the blogs that visited me when I was featured on SITS to say "Thank you". It is indeed a fabulous SITStahood.
Be blessed!

Ha! How are ya??? Sorry it's been a while since I've visited! Been on vacation for a couple of weeks (mentally & physically!) LOL.

My 6 year old sounds just like your toddler....EXCEPT she has declared herself a "tomboy" and refuses to wear pink or anything else girlie! Ugh - what to do???!!! Guess it's just a phase we mamas must endure!

Ha! Very cute. And she has such a loyal following already in her grandparents and parents. Destined for fashion greatness, for sure!
