Anybody Want A Cracker?

I’ve noticed lately that my freedom is tethered to my two daughters’ appetites.

And, boy, is it a short leash.

Just when I think I’ve found a stolen moment to unwind with a book…

“Moooooommy! I am huuuungry!”

My mornings are always started with a frantic tug at the leash.

“More Cheerios, Mommy??!!”

And, when I’ve tamed the morning growls, the late morning growls come creeping in.

“More crack-ahs??”

I’m not even safe in the car.

“Snack, Mamma?”

Heaven help ya if you take them on an errand without proper ammunition. As any wise mom knows, you simply must keep snacks in your purse….and glove compartment…and pockets….Heck, around your neck even.

It’s akin to always having a gaggle of geese gathered around you 24/7.

“Honk! Honk!”

“Stop your fussing Gertrude, Daisy and Clementine. You know there’s always bread crumbs at the bottom. Hang on there.”

I find it most unnerving when it occurs as one is unwinding at the end of the day….as it always does.

“Snack? I hungry!”

“Can ya gimme a minute, Gertrude?”

Really. There’s just no escaping.

HONK. HONK

Oh the call to snacks! The snacks!!

We hopped in the car this morning, both boys with sippys, me armed with bags of fruit snacks, gold fish, Hubs has his coffee.

A mile down the road I remembered my nice travel mug of yummy, warm, delicious coffee sitting on the counter. I wanted to throw a little boy-sized tantrum.

Whahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Congrats on the win! If it comes with any snacks, don't share.

I recently asked my Mom if she lugged food around all the time when we were kids.

She didn't think so.

What in the hell are we doing, anyway?? ;)

Argh, the kids I nanny for are the same way. It drives me NuTs. Between the 4 of them someone is always asking for something.

Too funny! This is especially true of my 4 yr old!

Congratulations on winning the contest!

I know this feeling! It's never ending. Someone should invent a "snack jacket" for parents, with all kinds of plastic-lined pockets and compartments for snacks and drinks.

Oh I feel your pain! Hahaha! I just have 1 prince, I mean, son. And he is constantly asking for "kook-keys" and biscuits! :) Haha!

I know, I have loads of snacks in my car, and bag. Never leave home without proper snacks and beverages.

My Gram and I went to the store Friday and I put two sippy cups filled into my diaper bag and she goes "we are just going to the grocery store, not on a mission" and laughed. Wouldn't ya know that he drank almost both of those whole sippy cups in the less than 2 hours we were gone! haha

My girls could eat a meal before we leave home. But, the minute we enter the mall, disney park etc they want to eat again.

It's so true! What's even more true is how much louder the honking gets if you have the audacity to leave the house sans snacks.

*shudders*

Popping over from SITS roll call to visit and say hello!

When my son was little I don't remember carrying snacks around with me, but I guess they have become a part of the culture now. I even see them in church.

Congrats on your win at Scary Mommy! I like that idea of a "favorites" giveaway. I might have to steal that idea.

Have a great week!
