My toddler has taken to carrying a purse.
It’s a snazzy little number, black satin with embroidered flowers. And, a doo-dad on top, of course.
It can usually be found happily swinging on her wrist.
She simply won’t leave home without it.
It’s accompanied us to doctor’s appointments, trips to the library and play dates.
In the event that it is ever forgotten, there is much duress, and we simply must double back.
One evening, my curiosity got the better of me. I spelunked the depths of her little purse to discover bits and pieces of her life.
A hair clip, a discarded Band Aid, an injured Crayola and a fuzzy lollipop.
And, then I thought of my own purse, sitting sprawled upside down in it’s usually place in the middle of the living room floor amongst the Legos and Mr. Potato head accessories.
I peered deep within to inventory my purse’s contents.
Yep.
A lollipop, a hair clip, a Band-Aid, and a broken Crayola were tangled together in a hodgepodge at the bottom.
Some things just don’t evolve past preschool, do they?

That is so cute! My 3 1/2 year old is going through a stage now where she wants my make up and lipstick! Wish it was a purse!
Ha! The same stuff is in my purse!!
At least your little ones purse sounds pretty. Not like the purse Sophia Petrillo used constantly on The Golden Girls;)
That's adorable!
Apples and trees and all that..
Yep sounds like my purse on any given day also. I've grown so sick of lugging half a CVS around town that I've resorted to just grabbing my phone and keys lately and my back has been eerily not sore by the end of the night... :o)
My best, Lynn
Cleaning out my purse is always a bit scary...
Your daughter sounds very cute.
This is so funny. Mine started this also. She has a Mermaid purse. We left it at the clinic this week. Called up there and a nice lady found it and kept it for us until we got back.
Same here!
At any given time, there is always useless stuff in the must have carry with me everywhere I go purse. :)
I love that she is already a little lady!
Ha! I completely agree. I was digging in my purse the other day and found some M&M's, Huggies wipes, broken crayons, and something that probably resembled a lollipop at some point in time. Have a great weekend!
Your little one has impeccable fashion sense!
That's funny! I was thinking as I read that about my purse and the shameful crap in there. Mine is not unlike yours!
Sounds like your toddler has a better purse than me. I'm still toting around my little ...um...BIG black number I got out of free box at my favorite thrift. And add one dirty sock, a dried up butt wipe, and an EMPTY wallet and you'll have the contents of MY purse.
That is hysterical. My purse usually has at least one sippy cup and a crunched up "clean" diaper. My son loves to play with the toy purses at daycare it is so cute (although most parents would freak out, I am not worried, he is practicing for when he needs to hold me purse when he is older!)
My 3 year old loves taking her purse everywhere. And she usually has it crammed full of stuff.
ooh my purse bottom is so scary...
I think my girls have more organized purses than I have. Certainly, theirs contain fewer slightly used kleenexes.
I keep wondering when my daughter (14-months) will start carrying a purse. I did it really young (or so says my mom), but my daughter hasn't seemed to pick up on it yet!

I just saw Golden Girls and Sophia with her purse and thought of your little one!
mmmm hummmm....
I like to include an open tampon in that mix, thankyouverymuch.
When I picked my little guy up from daycare tonight, he was walking all over the classroom with a purse full bean bags.
Awww that is so cute!!! I am still carrying a behemoth diaper bag, so I don't even want to know what is in the bottom of that thing. *shudder*
Too funny! Like mother, like daughter.
BTW...Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Oooh, this has me so excited! my little girl is getting her first "pretty me" purse for her birthday!
