I am beyond thrilled. Honored, really. Tickled pink. Giddy as all get go.
The invitation was slipped under my door early this morning. The writing was rather cryptic, but the crayola drawing and peanut butter fingerprints gave it away.
I have been invited to High Tea, hosted by my Princess Paleontologist and Toddler Pirate. One wonders what sort of “A list” celebrities will be attending. It just may be my good fortune to catch a sighting of Gymbo the Clown or exchange small talk with the elegant, yet reclusive Barbie Mariposa.
I imagine the snacks will be typical of an early Spring Fling. Play Doh cookies, lemonade glitter fairy tea, and zebra pancakes, among my favorites.
I am always at a loss as to what to wear to such events. However, I have been informed certain fashion accessories will be provided at the door. Lucky thing, because I am certain my feather boa is at the dry cleaners and Lord knows, my Mother in Law is just not giving back that tiara.
Not sure how this gal gets so sought after on the party circuit lately. My dance card has been full these days. Tea parties, picnics, library story time, play dates, park days…I’m pretty sure I should live in the moment and enjoy each delightful invite. Because I know, in a heartbeat, the sticky Crayola invites will be replaced with slamming doors, acne and prom nights.
Teenagers? Hmmm. Not sure I’ll mix well with that crowd. I think it’s going to be lonely for me and Gymbo. Good thing that clown serves a mean fairy tea.

Lately, I was invited to play "school." Your invite sounds to much better!
I LOVE when I am invited to high tea! Have fun today! (and my mother-in-law thinks she deserves the tiara as well!!!!)
Have fun at your party.
Love this post! Love it, love it, love it! :)
Enjoy the party - and if you need a tiara, I have several, you're welcome to borrow one of mine. :D
Just be glad those play-doh cookies are 0 calories, if they werent I'll be as big as a house! =) Great post.
My invites are a tour of the roads built in the sand pile. Kind of fun to watch them build and excavate.
What fun!!!
I promise...you'll get through the teen years ok. No slamming doors and very little attitude here, and I have 3 of them =)
Also, the 18 year old princess has several tiaras you could pick from to borrow...the nice, plastic, dress-up kind that are perfect for tea parties. Sometimes I think she's still an 8 year old girl trapped in an 18 year old body.
Oh, what fun! Good for you for recognizing how priceless these memories will be. Can't wait to see photos!
Ha ha ha! My daughter has been asking for a tea party. Maybe today will be the perfect day for it. :)
Cute post! Enjoy the tea party!
Sounds fab!
Hope you have a fantastic time.
Aww, that sounds like tons of fun. Lately my 3-year-old son has wanted to play rodeo. In this situation, he sits on his Giddy up n Go Pony and then tries to rope me. I'm not sure if I'm getting the fun end of the deal here.
Oh, don't ya just love those little guys! My little friends brought me breakfast in bed this morning. I woudn't be a bit surprised if they offered a tea party this afternoon!
How fun! I just love it when my four-year-old wants to "cook" for me. He makes all of our favorite dishes and we have fun sharing bites. :) Have a great tea party!
Enjoy the party!
oooh I'm so jealous...I have yet to be blessed with such an invite....exclusive parties...you must tell all....like Cindy Adams....
Oh, I do love a good tea party! :)
Sounds fabulous! We love tea parties here too. I find that shoes are a very important acessory for these event. The fancier the better :) Hope you had a fun afternoon and thanks for sharing such a special invite.
I love tea parties especially when given by such delightful hosts!
I've been invited to a pet shop, bake sale, and spa this week.
My MIL refuses to return the stinkin' tiara also...
Sadly, I am the only one who has tea at my house. I must play at my tea party all by myself... woe is me :(
Maybe my princess will develop a taste for brewed leaves at some point for real!
very cute take on the tea party scene...
Ah sweet! My kids are always making me food.
I am a little scared for the teen years. My eight year old is already becoming lippy with me.
All I have been fed lately at toddler kitchen central, is chicka muggets. EEUWW!
I would be grateful of an invite next time you girls are doing high tea.xx♥
Too cute! I also have something cute for you at AskWifey.com. You won the coveted bottle stopper from Venice. Stop by to pick it up ...
Winks & Smiles,
Wifey
I love your posts....
and how was your tea...?
haha ... i think i would be better with teenagers. Everyone has their strong suit. I miss my babies though!
Oh your kids are adorable. Enjoy your high tea. Whatever will you wear to something like that?
My best, Lynn
I never get invited to tea. I only get invited to go on vacation and play 'car'. My biggest problem with playing car is that I always play the mommy and Jade plays the baby. How is that pretend?
Awwww! That gave me sniffles. It's a good reminder that they're only this age for a short period of time. It's so easy to forget to engage with them when you're so busy providing the maintenance and life management - but you're quite right - those invitations will be absent in only a couple of years. And I'll miss them.
Heavens! I'll send over a stylist pronto!
I WISH I'd get invited to tea. I have boys. I get invited to play Hulk Smash and Hall Ball and Whack a Stack. No glitter fairy tea for me.
I hope you had a great time at your tea party. I can't wait for those sticky little invites to appear under my door.
Awww.. I want an invitation! Just don't call me during the teen years. :)
So sweet. Makes me nostalgic for those tea party's that my 8-year old doesn't do much of anymore. Although, she's really into experimental cooking lately.
You are such a talented and yet hilarious writer! Im new, I look forward to following!

LOVE the part about your MIL and the tiara! LOL!
This would be a fabulous post to link up to my "Wall of Fame" on Mr. Linky on Monday, to share the special ways we connect with our kids. I'd love it if you would join me!
Oh now I'm laughing because I forgot you already commented that you saw the post about my "event". So if you're cooking up something new, that's great too! Your whole blog would fit, honestly. Love it!
