Princess Turkey

My four year old was hard at work at her art station.

Sleeves rolled up and a whistlin’ while she worked, she was positively lost in her creative swirl.

I snuck a premature peek at the picture, but couldn’t make heads or tails. So, back to the scrubbing and sudsing in the kitchen I went.

Soon after, she presented her masterpiece to me, her familiar ear to ear grin pasted on her face.

“Wanna see?”

I got down to her eye level to meet her creation nose to nose.

The enormous bird was proudly sporting a full crop of widespread tail feathers colored pink, a fuchsia gobbler, and a lovely set of purple high heels.

I marveled at the details.

Rings sparkled from her feathery fingers. A diamond choker was clasped tightly around her gobbly neck. She held a lavender clutch. Her skinny legs stuck out from under her pink tutu. And a tiara teetered atop her tiny head.

Fashion at its finest.

“Princess turkey,” my little one explained.

“Simply delightful,” I affirmed.

I am always one to reward out-of-the-box thinking.

However, it did make me rethink that turkey sandwich.

Kinda gave me the guilts.

Nope.

Nothing better than heavy mayo on squishy bread + cold Thanksgiving Princess Turkey.

That might be because I'm jealous of her purple high heels though.

(what is it with me and shoes today?!)

Wow, How Creative! I bet this little girl is going to like jewelry when she grows up, maybe before she grows up, might want to hide your jewelry box!

I second Lee's motion. I wanna see.

I miss those days. At ten, mine says she's too good of an artist compared to the other kids. But, I wish I'd had a camera and taken pics of her drawings at the school's Thanksgiving feast.

If my turkey looked like the one she drew I think I would not eat it either..

Well you SHOULD feel guilty if you're eating royal turkeys. You should be eating peon turkeys like the rest of us. Or if the peons make you feel guilty, at least restrict yourself to bourgeois turkeys. ;-}

Don't kids have fantastic imaginations? Your little girl sounds likes she's quite the fashionista.

Eat up!

I'm sure your turkey was just one of her subjects.

Very cute.

Humanizing an animal we eat is never a good idea. However, it sounds like a glamourpuss of a turkey!

Kids' imaginations are so great. Who else would think of painting a princess turkey? One to frame!

Lol!
Yesterday the 5 year old drew a portrait of me. The size of my nose in the picture was enough to give me a complex. But then the 5 year old had to explain to me that he wasn't able to draw my nose big enough because he just didn't have enough paper. ;)

Aw I want to see a pic!!! LOVE creative little girls. My daughter drew a flying iguana today. You know, one that chases Santa Claus. Because that makes TOTAL sense.
Seriously, our girls should meet! :)
Stopping by from SITS!
